Steny Hoyer, a seasoned U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 5th district, shared his perspectives on current legislative activities and engaged with the public through a series of tweets. His comments focused on fiscal policy and participation in a virtual town hall meeting.

On February 13, 2025, Hoyer criticized Republican efforts to pass legislation that he claims would significantly increase the deficit by funding tax cuts for wealthy individuals and large corporations. He urged followers to “tune in now to see how @HouseBudgetDems are holding Republicans accountable.”

Later that day, Hoyer highlighted testimony from House Republicans’ own witnesses who admitted that tax cuts do not self-finance. He encouraged people to “WATCH: House Republicans’ own witnesses admit tax cuts don’t pay for themselves.”

In another tweet on the same day, Hoyer invited the public to join him alongside Representative Sarah Elfreth and Rob Shriver of Democracy Forward for a virtual town hall meeting. He emphasized the opportunity for constituents to ask questions and express their views: “Tune in now as I join @RepSarahElfreth and Rob Shriver of @DemocracyFWD for a virtual town hall to answer your questions and make your voices heard.”
