Steny Hoyer, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 5th district, has been active on social media, sharing his views and initiatives concerning global security and national matters. In a series of tweets, Hoyer discusses topics ranging from international alliances to domestic engagements.

On February 13, 2025, Steny Hoyer emphasized the significance of the NATO alliance by stating that it “has been a pillar of global security for 75 years.” He announced his collaboration with Representatives Gregory Meeks, William Keating, and Gerry Connolly in introducing a resolution aimed at reaffirming the United States’ commitment to NATO. The resolution seeks to ensure continued support for allied nations. “The @NATO alliance has been a pillar of global security for 75 years.”

Later that day, Hoyer addressed comments made by Pete Hegseth during a meeting of the UDCG earlier in the week. He criticized these remarks as detrimental to the Western efforts in supporting Ukraine amidst ongoing conflict. Stressing the importance of aiding Ukraine, he stated that providing necessary resources is crucial for the security of Europe, America, and the broader free world. “Pete Hegseth’s comments at the UDCG meeting earlier this week severely undermine the West’s mission to support Ukraine in this war.”

On February 14, 2025, Hoyer expressed gratitude towards participants of his Virtual Town Hall event co-hosted with Representative Sarah Elfreth. He extended special thanks to Rob Shriver and Skye Perryman from Democracy Forward for their leadership in legal battles affecting federal employees and for offering guidance during these challenges. “Thank you to all who tuned into my Virtual Town Hall with @RepSarahElfreth.”
