On November 25, 2024, Hoyer expressed his honor in joining the U.S. Service Academy Board to review candidates from Maryland’s 5th district seeking nominations. The following day, November 26, 2024, Hoyer announced that he had joined the Maryland Delegation in securing over $200 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation for Amtrak projects aimed at improving rail services between Baltimore and Washington D.C.
