Steny Hoyer, a veteran member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 5th District, shared a series of updates and opinions through his Twitter account. Known for his long-standing service since 1981, Hoyer addressed topics ranging from educational initiatives to political criticism against the Trump Administration.

On April 1, 2025, Hoyer announced the final opportunity for submissions to the Black History Month 2025 Essay Competition. He encouraged participation, mentioning, “Today is the last day to submit entries into the #MD05 Black History Month 2025 Essay Competition.” Hoyer expressed anticipation for reviewing the essays written by high school students and extended his best wishes to all participants.

Later that day, at 22:34, Hoyer publicly supported Senator Cory Booker in his ongoing efforts against the policies introduced during the Trump Administration. Hoyer praised Booker’s actions, saying, “I commend @SenBooker for, as my brother John Lewis always encouraged, getting into ‘good trouble’ as he continues to speak on the Senate Floor against the Trump Administration’s unlawful policies and attacks on the American people.” Hoyer reaffirmed the support from Democratic colleagues for Booker’s advocacy.

On April 2, 2025, Hoyer addressed an issue involving a wrongful deportation conducted under the Trump Administration due to an error. He stated, “The Trump Admin has admitted that it detained & unlawfully deported Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, due to their own ‘administrative error.'” Describing it as a “miscarriage of justice,” Hoyer said he and his colleagues demand the return of Mr. Abrego Garcia to the United States.
