Maryland Department of Natural Resources issued the following announcement on June 16.
Happy World Sea Turtle Day! Maryland's waters are visited by loggerhead, Kemp’s Ridley, green, leatherback and Atlantic hawksbill sea turtles. Loggerhead sea turtles, like the hatchling pictured here, are Maryland's most common sea turtle. Everyone can help protect these incredible animals by keeping our shores and waters free of trash and by staying alert when boating!
