Maryland Department of Natural Resources issued the following announcement on Aug. 8.
As part of #MarinaCleanupDay, staff and volunteers hosted a cleanup event last month at Somers Cove Marina in Somerset County. Six adults and three children removed approximately 300 pounds of litter from the marina basin, including a bicycle tire, cigarette butts, food containers and wrappers, and plastic bags and bottles. Marine debris and trash impairs our waterways, endangers boats and harms wildlife.
