NFIB Maryland hosted its 2023 Small Business Day virtually on March 7. The event saw participation from small business owners across the state, who engaged in discussions with State Director Mike O’Halloran. With the current political landscape in Maryland marked by single-party control, there is a pressing need for lawmakers to understand the perspectives of small business owners to aid economic recovery.
O’Halloran led an informative session aimed at ensuring that the voices of small businesses are represented in Annapolis. The event was free for members and guests and provided an overview of NFIB’s legislative priorities in the state legislature. It also offered guidance on how small-business owners can influence policy decisions to benefit their businesses.
Participants had the opportunity to interact with key officials, including Eric Luedtke, Chief Legislative Officer of Governor Wes Moore; Senator Melony Griffith, Chair of the Senate Finance Committee; and Delegate Jason Buckel, House Minority Leader. These discussions focused on significant issues currently being addressed in the General Assembly.
The meeting is available for viewing by members and small business allies online. Attendees were encouraged to engage further by contacting legislators about opposing accelerated increases in minimum wage through a provided action alert link.
