On November 8th, NFIB State Director Mike O’Halloran led a virtual event with representatives from the Department of Labor's Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) office. The session aimed to inform small business owners about the FAMLI program, its operation, and regulatory requirements. Regan Vaughan, FAMLI Director of Policy, presented details about the program and expectations for 2024.

A recording of this free event for NFIB members is available online.

The Department is also conducting research to understand businesses' needs and challenges regarding the upcoming paid leave system. The feedback will help develop user-friendly software tailored to business needs. Business owners can participate in the survey through the Maryland DOL – FAMLI survey for employers link.
