The City of Takoma Park announced on Mar. 26 that applications are now open for Phase II of the Multifamily Building Improvement Grant Program. The program aims to help owners of multifamily buildings in the city make electrification upgrades, with the goal of promoting sustainable housing, climate resiliency, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The grant offers funding to cover up to 80 percent of total project costs, with a maximum award amount of approximately $100,000. It is available to building owners or property managers whose properties have between three and thirty units and are located within Takoma Park. Eligible applicants must also comply with the city’s rental licensing policies.

According to the city’s announcement, this funding is a grant rather than a loan, meaning recipients will not need to repay the awarded amount. The application period for Phase II: Project Implementation will remain open until Thursday, April 30, 2026.

Those interested in applying or seeking more information about eligibility requirements can contact Paloma Arroyo-LeFebre, Housing Manager for Takoma Park, at palomal@takomaparkmd.gov.

The program reflects ongoing efforts by local government to support environmental initiatives while assisting property owners in making necessary improvements.
