Two Oakland women arrested on drug and child neglect charges

The Garrett County Sheriff’s Office announced on April 14 that two women from Oakland were arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and three counts of child neglect each. The arrests followed the execution of a search warrant along the 4000 block of North Third Street in Oakland.

According to authorities, the investigation was conducted by detectives, deputies, and investigators with the Department of Social Services, Child Protective Services. The investigation focused on allegations of child neglect and controlled dangerous substance violations at a residence where minor children were living.

During the search, detectives recovered cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Megan Rachaell Ridenour, 32, and Shondell Menita Maria Mayne, 41, both from Oakland, were taken into custody as a result. Both individuals are currently being held at the Garrett County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

Sheriff Bryson Meyers said, “I commend the hard work and dedication of our detectives and deputies protecting the children of our community.” He also confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
