AACS junior Olivia Noel finds connection in speaking the words of someone else’s reality.

The energy was palpable. It was like an electrical charge in the air, touching everyone who sat in the audience. The AACS Onyx Club’s Annual Black History Month Celebration was taking those in the house on a journey using choral and instrumental music, readings, and poems. Olivia Noel, a junior at AACS, stepped forward, her shoulders back, hands poised. She began to recite, “We Are Trying.”
