A collection of governors across party lines has called out President Donald Trump to reverse course after his administration decided to try to upend Affordable Care Act protections of pre-existing conditions.
The bipartisan joint statement came on Monday after the Trump Administration decided to argue in a legal brief that the conditions should be overturned and that the Justice Department will no longer defend the pre-existing condition portion of "Obamacare."
The governors say the move goes against American values, will hurt families in their states, and create uncertainty in insurance markets.
Members of the group include potential presidential candidates like Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich, Democratic Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, Alaska Gov. Bill Walker (I), Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf (D), Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval (R), Montana Gov. Steve Bullock (D), Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R), Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) and North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D).
Kasich and Hickenlooper have recently worked together on bipartisan health care proposals.
