Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapist met July 20.

Here is the agenda provided by the Board:

I. Call to Order – Attendance– Risa Ganel, Chair.

II. Review and Approve Open Session Minutes from June 15, 2018.

III. Review and Approve Agenda.

IV. Reports:

A. Chair: Update on new board appointments

B. Board Counsel: TBD.

C. Legislative/Regulations Committee, Amanda Bechtel:

i. Vote on comments received on proposed alcohol and drug counselor regulations;

ii. Committee continues to work on teletherapy, reorganization of COMAR Title 58, and regulations regarding civil fines as required by statute.

D. Credentialing Committee, Anna DeJong:

i. Appeal from LCPC applicant;

ii. Question from Ted McCadden, Ph.D., CCBC re: CEU/credit for online supervision course;

iii. Per the Sunset Evaluation, the Committee is examining the feasibility of the acceptance of national accreditation programs for each credential and is evaluating the number and types of credentials issued by the Board to determine what is necessary to protect the public.

E. Discipline Review Committee, Jeff Galecki: TBD.

V. Old Business:

i. Report on first meeting of Board Composition Committee (Ganel);

ii. Renewal notice posted to website and sent via email to licensees/certificate holders due to renew this year.

VI. New Business:

-By-laws: The Board does not currently have by-laws. Need volunteer to draft proposed by-laws. Kim Link will assist board member with templates, content, etc.

VII. Miscellaneous/FYI

▪ Next Board Meeting: August 17, 2018; C. Scott Frazier will not attend.
