Allegany County Board of Elections met Aug. 1.

Call to Order:
Mr. DeVore called the meeting to order at 9:00 A.M., at which time a quorum was established.
Minutes:
Mr. DeVore called for alterations, corrections, and/or approval of the minutes.
MOTION: Mrs. Spiker motioned to accept the June 6, 2018 minutes as written.
SECOND: Mr. Stakem
ACTION: Favorable and unanimous.

ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT:
OLD BUSINESS:
Election Calendar: A revised copy of the Election Calendar was placed in each member’s blue board folder.
New Business:
Absentee Ballot Applications: We will be using the online version of the absentee ballot application for the 2018 General Election. This version has been updated to comply with HB 1331.
DHS Survey: We have received our results from the DHS Survey and will have it available for members to review. We have also provided a copy of the survey to the State Board of Elections.
Election Judge Training: A copy of the Election Judge Training Schedule has been placed in the blue board folders. Members are encouraged to attend at least one training session for each type of election judge.
NVRA Deadline: The deadline to mail confirmation notices is August 8, 2018. We have finished processing the latest ERIC reports and are quickly processing the returned specimen ballots.
Certification of Local Ballot Questions: A memo has been sent to the County Attorney as well as the attorney at the City of Cumberland regarding ballot questions for the general election. Both attorneys have responded no, they do not have any local ballot questions.
Declination of Nomination: The deadline to decline the nomination is August 28, 2018.
Allegany County National Night Out: We will be providing voter registration for the Allegany County National Night Out on August 7th at the Country Club Mall from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
Table Top Exercises: We will be participating in two table top exercises the week of August 13th. The first exercise will be hosted by DHS and the second will be hosted by SBE. Both exercises will be held at the Anne Arundel County Board of Elections office.
Computer Systems and Software Security Updates: We have successfully applied the Microsoft Security updates for the month of July on SBE workstations. We have also updated other third-party software applications to their latest versions on all workstations.
Registration Statistics: Statistics as of July 31, 2018 were as follows: Total Active Registration 43,116 – 13,669 Democrat, 21,542 Republican, 140 Green, 289 Libertarian, 7,187 Unaffiliated, and 289 Others.
Board Members Report: Mr. DeVore reported that the County has approved the reclassification for the staff members. The Election Clerk has been moved to a Grade 8, Registrars to a Grade 9, and Senior Registrar to a Grade 10.
Next Meeting: The next regular meeting will be held on September 5, 2018 at 1:00 P.M.
