Maryland Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept. 28.
Garrett College opened the doors of its state-of-the-art STEM building on Saturday, September 8th, with Senators Ben Cardin and Christopher Van Hollen, Jr. in attendance as guest speakers. With a focus on STEM education of top priority state and worldwide, the new facility preps students by providing laboratories for physics, biology, chemistry, engineering and robotics to prepare Garrett’s students for these highly competitive fields.
“Having a facility of this type will be transformative for STEM education in Western Maryland,” said Dr. Richard Midcap, Garrett College’s president. In addition to the new building, donor funds are providing scholarships to make STEM education more accessible and to increase utilization of the cutting-edge technology provided at Garrett.
