Maryland Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Oct. 25.
Star Academy’s Timonium campus literally buzzed Friday, October 5th—drones whirled, robots engaged in hydraulic movement, and students cheered as they stepped into different dimensions.
The Regional Manufacturing Institute of Maryland and Star Academy hosted a day of hands-on learning for more than 150 STEM students from Baltimore County Public Schools. The event gathered industry-leading manufacturers from across the state in 4.0 technologies, including: robotics, 3D scanning and printing, VR and AR, drones, and more.
Each of these technological advances link to growing job opportunities in Maryland. Manufacturers and members of RMI’s Emerging Leaders in Manufacturing were on-site to teach students how to engage with the technologies and demonstrate their role in shaping Maryland’s emerging workforce.
Mosaic Learning showed students how VR can be utilized in hiring and training processes for jobs in HVAC. Stanley Black and Decker showcased its latest cutting-edge Dewalt power tools. When students didn’t have controllers in their hands or a virtual reality sets secured to their heads, they were busy filling out sign-up sheets for longer term programs with RMI and Star Academy.
