Calvert County Board of County Commissioners met Oct. 23.
Here is the minutes provided by the commissioners:
1. Presented a proclamation declaring the week of October 23, 2018, as Leadership Maryland Week in Calvert County, as they moved into their 11th class year, and extended congratulations and best wishes to Leadership Southern Maryland on its 10th Anniversary.
2. Appointed Jeremy Wier to the Heritage Committee.
3. Reappointed William J. Bass and Thomas E. Dugan to the Historic District Commission.
4. Appointed Hilary Dailey, Tourism Program Specialist, as the Board of County Commissioners’ appointee to the Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum Advisory Committee.
5. Following the required 10-day waiting period after the September 25, 2018 public hearing, closed the public record on the 2019-2028 Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan, signed the Ordinance adopting the Plan, and directed staff to submit the Plan to Maryland Department of the Environment.
6. Following the required 10-day waiting period after the October 9, 2018, public hearing, approved Budget Adjustment #015 to realign General Obligation Bond revenues for road drainage projects in the amount of $324,979, and signed the related Resolution.
7. Held a public hearing to receive public comment on the establishment of the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter fee schedule, closed the public record, and signed the related Ordinance.
8. Approved Budget Adjustment #118, in the amount of $43,257.50, for the purchase of a replacement excavator for the Water & Sewerage Division.
9. Approved Budget Adjustment #168, in the amount of $52,000, to increase the current fiscal year funding for the Volunteer Fire-Rescue-EMS Tuition Assistance Program, as requested by the Fire & Rescue Commission.
10. Approved and authorized the Board President to sign the Licensing with Ferguson Trenching Company Inc., for the temporary use of County property located at the old Calvert Middle School site to store natural gas pipe during the relocation of natural gas utilities for the road widening project.
11. Attended a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Southern Pines II apartments, located at 60 Appeal Lane, Lusby, Maryland.
12. Attended a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly-built Prince Frederick Volunteer Rescue Squad, located at 755 Solomons Island Road S., Prince Frederick, Maryland.
