Rep. Glenn Ivey criticizes President-elect Trump's comments about jailing J6 Committee members

Rep. Glenn Ivey, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland's 4th district, has recently expressed his concerns regarding statements made by President-elect Donald Trump. In a series of tweets posted on December 10, 2024, Rep. Ivey addressed various issues related to the president-elect's comments and actions.

In one tweet, Rep. Ivey stated, "I am troubled, but not surprised, that President-elect Trump would call for Members of the J6 Committee to be jailed merely for investigating the events of that tragic day. A president threatening to jail members of Congress is an assault on the rule of law." This statement reflects his concern over what he perceives as a threat to democratic principles.

Further expressing his apprehension about President-elect Trump's intentions, Rep. Ivey tweeted shortly after: "The President-elect’s determination to weaponize the tremendous powers of the federal government upon his return to office is unjust and unconstitutional." This comment highlights his view on the potential misuse of governmental power.

Additionally, Rep. Ivey shared his pride in contributing to bipartisan efforts through his work with a specific task force. He tweeted: "I am honored to have served on the @TFAADJT and I am proud of the bipartisan work that went into the final report. View the final report below." The tweet included a link to access this report.
