The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), a prominent advocate for small businesses in Maryland, has initiated a digital and radio advertising campaign. The campaign aims to caution lawmakers against imposing tax increases on small businesses as they deliberate over new legislation this session.
Mike O’Halloran, NFIB Maryland State Director, expressed the concerns of small business owners: “Small business owners across the state are concerned with the proposals coming out of Annapolis and simply cannot afford a tax increase.” He added that such tax hike plans could disrupt small businesses' growth and job creation efforts. O'Halloran emphasized, “Now is not the time to take away the hard-earned income of Maryland’s Main Street. We are urging the Maryland General Assembly to not make small businesses pay for the state’s structural deficit.”
