Loyola University Maryland men's golf tops the list of highest grossing programs in the state, reporting $361,977 – or $40,220 per athlete – in 2016, followed by Towson University ($258,841) and University of Maryland-College Park ($193,546), according to a Higher Education Tribune analysis of the latest federal data.
The U.S. Department of Education Office of Postsecondary Education compiles athletics data annually from more than 2,000 schools receiving federal financial aid.
In Maryland, 12 colleges have men's golf programs. In all, they grossed nearly $1.1 million in 2016.
