With an eye toward November elections, a recent poll conducted jointly by the Washington Post and the University of Maryland revealed that Republican Gov. Larry Hogan maintains strong public favor with a 71 percent approval rating.
The joint survey concluded that almost two-thirds of Maryland Democrats approve of Hogan’s job performance, resulting in a 71 percent overall approval rating matching a previous record high.
Even publicity surrounding the upcoming June 26 Democratic primary has yielded the spotlight with the public’s attention focused on the incumbent governor “in a race overshadowed by record popularity for Republican Gov. Larry Hogan,” the Washington Post stated.
Moreover, the University of Maryland’s Michael Hanmer, who has served as an associate professor in the government and politics department for more than a decade, observed that not only is there strong backing but also diverse support for Hogan, according to the Republican Governors Association (RGA).
“Governor Larry Hogan continues to demonstrate that his successful efforts to reduce taxes and fees, bring jobs back to Maryland, and improve education are resonating with voters,” stated RGA.
Poll results indicated that of seven front-running Democratic candidates, none appeared to stand out in the public eye sufficiently to undermine Hogan’s positive standing.
