More than a dozen Democrat politicians are among those who have endorsed Republican Gov. Larry Hogan's run for a second term as governor of Maryland, according to a Hogan campaign press release.

Statements from a handful of the 15 current and former Democrats endorsing Hogan's re-election also were included in the press release, including one who took aim at Hogan's Democrat challenger, former NAACP President Ben Jealous.

"As a proud Democrat, I am honored to endorse Gov. Hogan for another four years in office because he has consistently proven that it is possible to work across party lines and get big things done," former House of Delegates Speaker Casper Taylor Jr. was quoted in the press release. "The last thing we need in Annapolis is more divisive Washington D.C.-style partisanship – and that is exactly what Mr. Jealous is promising."

Other Democrats endorsing Hogan are former House Of Delegates Speaker Pro Tempore Dennis Donaldson; Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman; Bowie City Councilman Henri Gardner; Bowie Mayor Fred Robinson; Hurlock Mayor Michael Henry; former Chesapeake Beach Mayor and former Maryland Municipal League President Bruce Wahl; retired Maryland Circuit Court Judge Michael Algeo; former Democrat Delegate and Baltimore County Delegation Vice-Chairman Steven DeBoy; Bowie City Councilman Jimmy Marcos; Bowie City Councilman Michael Estève; former Bowie City Councilwoman Diane Polangin; Hagerstown City Councilman Lewis Metzner; former Hagerstown City Councilman John Schnebly and former Bowie City Councilman Jack Jenkins.

Those endorsements bring to 40 the number of current and former elected Democrat officials to endorse Hogan, according to the press release.
