Comptroller of Maryland issued the following announcement on Aug. 23.
Did you know - Maryland was the first state to take advantage of computerized data sharing with the IRS? On his first day as Comptroller in 1959, Louis Goldstein asked his new staff where the computers were. The answer was "What computers?" This was the impetus for decades of innovation in accounting, revenue collection, customer service, and now fraud detection and taxpayer security. Through technological investments, our agency has become a national leader in combating tax fraud and identity theft. #tbt
