Gov. Larry Hogan has appointed three officials to the Commission to Restore Trust in Policing.
The commission, which was established this year by Senate Bill 1099, will involve investigations regarding the Baltimore City Police and the now-defunct Gun Trace Task Force. Preliminary reports must be provided to Hogan and the General Assembly by the end of the year, and a final report must be submitted by the end of 2019.
The three officials appointed to the commission are Judge Alexander Williams Jr. as chair; Gary McLhinny and Alicia Lynn Wilson.
The appointees will join No Boundaries Coalition Chief Operating Officer Ashiah Parker; attorney and former officer Mitchel Gordon; Sean Malone, the former counsel to the Baltimore City Police Department and Labor Commissioner of Baltimore City; and Inez Robb, who is chair of Western District Community Relations Council on the commission.
Williams is a retired U.S. District Court judge and former elected state's attorney for Prince George's County. He joined Silverman, Thompson, Slutkin & White after retiring from the bench. He also conducts mediations and arbitrations with the McCammon Group. He also serves as chair of the Appellate Courts Judicial Nominating Commission and co-chair of the Redistricting Reform Commission.
McLhinney is the director of Professional Standards for the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. He was the chief of police for the Maryland Transportation Authority Police and was a police officer for Baltimore City.
Wilson is senior legal counsel and senior vice president of Impact Investments for Plank Industries/Port Covington Impact Investments. She is an executive board member of The Choice Jobs Program, The Center for Urban Families, Baltimore Corps and Associated Black Charities.
