MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE: Governor Hogan to Host Buy Local Cookout

Chef

Maryland Department of Agriculture issued the following announcement on July 11.

Governor Larry Hogan and First Lady Yumi Hogan will host the 12th annual Governor’s Buy Local Cookout and officially recognize Maryland’s Buy Local Challenge Week, which challenges Marylanders to incorporate at least one locally grown, produced or harvested product into their meals each day. Sixteen teams of local producers and chefs will prepare creative recipes for the cookout showcasing the diversity of local products available in Maryland. First Lady Yumi Hogan and Government House chefs will prepare an entrée and dessert for the cookout.

Maryland’s Buy Local Challenge Week is July 20-28. Buying locally preserves farmland, protects the environment, bolsters local economies, and provides nutritious, fresh food.
