Anne Arundel County – MD issued the following announcement on Mar. 21.

Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman, Councilmember Allison Pickard, and Severn Athletic Club Commissioner of Soccer Shaem Spencer shared the following statement regarding the introduction of legislation allowing the County to acquire the Severn Danza property:

“This purchase will help us bring park fields and trails to an area of the County in need of these investments,” Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman said. “I want to thank Councilmember Pickard and the community for communicating the need for additional park space, and John Stamato and Ribera Development for working with the County to make this happen.”

“The northern and western areas of the county have a need for additional athletic fields and walking trails to bring us closer to having a regional park in this part of the county,” Anne Arundel County Councilmember Allison Pickard, District 2 said. “The use of land acquisition dollars toward this park expansion is an exciting investment that will enhance this community park for all of us.”

"I'm excited to see park space coming to this part of the county, offering more fields for the kids in our community. I'm a big proponent of youth athletics and youth sports, and this helps provide more space for our clubs to use," Severn Athletic Club Commissioner of Soccer Shaem Spencer said. "I'm very excited the County Executive, Councilmember Pickard, and the County Council are making this happen."
