Two Maryland voting rights coalitions, Everyone Votes Maryland and Expand the Ballot, Expand the Vote, are working to ensure that every Maryland resident is aware of their voting rights ahead of Election Day. These organizations have coordinated efforts to provide hotlines, resources, and transportation options for voters.
Common Cause MD is leading the national election protection hotline 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683), offering information on voting options. The hotline operates from 9:00 am to 11:59 pm on weekdays and from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm on weekends. Nearly 200 trained volunteers will monitor polling locations in major precincts across Maryland on Election Day.
The ACLU-MD has established its own election protection hotline at (667) 219-2625, assisting with questions about voter eligibility, registration, mail-in voting, early voting, and more. This service is available from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm during early voting and from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm on Election Day.
The League of Women Voters of Montgomery County offers a hotline at (301) 984-9585 for assistance in English and Spanish until Election Day. Disability Rights Maryland provides a dedicated hotline at (443) 692-2512 or via email at Voting@DisabilityRightsMD.org for addressing accessibility issues faced by disabled voters.
Expand the Ballot's outreach efforts focus on empowering those impacted by the criminal justice system through street canvassing and voter registration drives. Life After Release collaborates with Black Voters Matter in Prince George’s County and Baltimore City to encourage voter registration through community engagement.
The Maryland Justice Project is offering rides to polling stations in Baltimore; requests can be made by calling 443-462-9271. Additionally, the Maryland League of Conservation Voters Education Fund targets get-out-the-vote initiatives in Latino communities with an online voter tool available for registration assistance.
National multi-language hotlines include services in Spanish/English (888-VE-Y-VOTA), Asian languages/English (888-API-VOTE), and Arabic/English (844-YALLA-US).
The Expand the Ballot Coalition aims to combat voter suppression by informing currently and formerly incarcerated individuals about their voting rights. Organizations involved include Out for Justice, Life After Release, NAACP, Common Cause MD, Disability Rights Maryland among others.
Everyone Votes Maryland consists of various civil rights groups striving to increase ballot access statewide.
