Steny Hoyer, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland's 5th district, recently shared his views on various issues through a series of tweets. Hoyer, who has been in office since 1981 and holds degrees from the University of Maryland and Georgetown University Law Center, addressed topics ranging from transgender rights to international arms sales.

On November 20, 2024, Hoyer marked Transgender Day of Remembrance by expressing his condolences for those lost to anti-trans violence. He emphasized the importance of supporting policies that foster inclusivity. "On Transgender Day of Remembrance, we mourn the many lives lost due to anti-trans violence, while recognizing the courage & resilience of the transgender community." He called for continued efforts towards a safer environment for all Americans.

In another tweet on the same day, Hoyer criticized House Republicans for their approach towards transgender Americans. He expressed his eagerness to collaborate with Delaware’s Congresswoman-elect Sarah McBride to improve American lives. "It is deeply unfortunate that House Republicans are demagoguing transgender Americans for their own political ends."

The following day, November 21, 2024, Hoyer released a statement regarding a Senate vote concerning U.S.-made weapons sales to Israel. "My full statement regarding the failed Senate vote to block the sale of U.S.-made weapons to Israel:" This statement can be accessed via links provided in his tweet.
