Steny Hoyer, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland's 5th district, has shared several statements on current political issues via social media. Hoyer, who has been in office since 1981 and previously served in the Maryland State Senate, continues to be an active voice in American politics.

On March 5, 2025, Hoyer reflected on the upcoming anniversary of "Bloody Sunday," marking 60 years since civil rights activists were attacked while marching for voting rights. He stated, "This Friday will mark 60 years since 'Bloody Sunday,' where hundreds of civil rights activists were attacked for marching for their right to vote." He emphasized the ongoing need to protect democracy against those attempting to silence American voices.

Later that day, Hoyer expressed support for federal workers, emphasizing their commitment to serving the American people rather than any political party or president. He declared his continued support amidst perceived attacks from prominent figures like Donald Trump and Elon Musk. His post read: "Our federal workers are not committed to a party or to a president, but to the American people they serve every day."

In another statement made on March 5, Hoyer praised Ukrainian President Zelenskyy for his leadership against what he described as a "craven dictator." Criticizing former President Trump's approach towards Ukraine's leader, he asserted: "President Zelenskyy has shown extraordinary courage in leading the Ukranian people against a craven dictator, who Trump inexplicably seeks to appease." He stressed the importance of respecting and supporting international allies.
