Glenn Ivey, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 4th district, has voiced his opposition to recent legislative proposals by House Republicans through a series of tweets. The tweets express his concerns about the direction of government actions and their implications for American citizens.

On March 11, 2025, Rep. Ivey stated his decision to vote against the Continuing Resolution (CR) proposed by House Republicans. He expressed that the resolution "omits so much of what government is supposed to be about – serving the American people." He affirmed his commitment to upholding the Constitution and maintaining separation of powers. "Today, I vote no on the CR as proposed by the House Republicans..."

In another tweet posted on March 11, 2025, Rep. Ivey criticized the partisan nature of the Continuing Resolution and its potential consequences. He mentioned that it would "further empower Trump and Musk to take a chainsaw to the federal workforce and critical government services," while also paving the way for significant tax cuts for billionaires. On March 12, 2025, Rep. Ivey addressed plans to dismantle the Department of Education and reduce its staff by over half as part of a broader critique against GOP policies affecting education systems. He described these actions as misguided decisions that jeopardize vulnerable children in America due to ongoing cultural conflicts within educational policy-making. "Dismantling the Department of Education and firing over 50% of the agency’s staff is a misguided decision..."
