Known for his leadership and commitment to public service, Hoyer has addressed both personal losses and significant developments in federal infrastructure.

On March 14, 2025, Hoyer expressed his sorrow over the death of Congressman Raúl Grijalva. In his message, he noted Grijalva's principled leadership and battle with cancer: "I am deeply saddened by the passing of my dear friend, Congressman Raúl Grijalva. Raúl always demonstrated principled leadership in Congress & for Arizonans, even throughout his courageous battle with cancer. I pray for his family as they grieve this terrible loss."

Later that day, Hoyer commented on the General Services Administration's decision regarding the new FBI headquarters: "The GSA selected Greenbelt, MD for the new, consolidated FBI headquarters because it is the best site and offers the lowest price & best value to taxpayers. Team Maryland will continue working to bring the headquarters to our state, as decided in 2023."

On March 16, 2025, Hoyer mourned another loss in Congress with the passing of former Congresswoman Nita Lowey: "I am deeply saddened by the passing of my friend, former Congresswoman Nita Lowey. A talented legislator and appropriator, I join countless others to thank her for working to better her community, country, and the world. My prayers are with her family at this time."
