Steny Hoyer, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland's 5th district, recently shared his views on several national issues through a series of tweets. Hoyer, who has been in office since 1981 and holds degrees from the University of Maryland and Georgetown University Law Center, voiced concerns about former President Donald Trump's proposals and actions as well as his thoughts on other prominent figures.

On March 20, 2025, Hoyer expressed his disapproval of former President Donald Trump's suggestion to relinquish the United States' role as Supreme Allied Commander Europe in NATO. He argued that "Trump's suggestion to give up the United States' role as Supreme Allied Commander Europe in @NATO would undercut America's influence in the organization and our national security & military power throughout the world." He emphasized that considering such a move could compromise America's standing globally.

Later that day, Hoyer addressed concerns regarding Elon Musk's involvement with social welfare programs. In a brief tweet posted at 18:25 UTC, he stated simply "We shouldn’t trust Musk with Social Security and Medicaid." This comment suggests skepticism about Musk's potential influence over these critical government programs.

On March 21, 2025, Hoyer criticized an executive order issued by Trump aimed at dismantling the Department of Education. He highlighted constitutional limitations by stating "The Constitution has made it clear that a president cannot abolish a department created by Congress." He further described Trump's action as illegal and harmful to both the nation and its future generations.
