The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), a small business advocacy group in Maryland, has launched an advertising campaign aimed at advising lawmakers against implementing tax increases that could affect small businesses. The campaign includes digital and radio advertisements.
Mike O’Halloran, NFIB Maryland State Director, expressed concerns about potential tax hikes. "Small business owners across the state are concerned with the proposals coming out of Annapolis and simply cannot afford a tax increase," he said. O'Halloran warned that "the tax hike plans would interfere with small businesses plans to grow and create jobs – now is not the time to take away the hard-earned income of Maryland’s Main Street." He called on the Maryland General Assembly to avoid taxing small businesses to address the state’s structural deficit.
