Steny Hoyer, a seasoned member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 5th district since 1981, has taken to social media to voice his concerns on various issues. Below are some of his recent statements on political matters.

On April 1st, 2025, Hoyer addressed concerns about educational discrimination. "Our students deserve to attend class without fear of discrimination. I joined @RepRaskin and our colleagues in writing to Secretary McMahon to demand answers on the Trump Admin's decision to illegally close 7 of @usedgov's Civil Rights regional offices." Hoyer's focus on this matter underscores his commitment to maintaining civil rights protections within the educational sector.

Later the same day, Hoyer criticized a proposal affecting social security. "Elon Musk and Donald Trump’s plan to take away your earned Social Security benefits is unacceptable. Watch @HouseDemocrats expose their scheme today at 3pm." His comments highlighted opposition to changes that could potentially impact retirees' benefits.

Hoyer also expressed his concerns regarding federal employees working at the Department of Health and Human Services on April 1st, 2025. He remarked that "Federal employees at @HHSGov have devoted their careers to keeping Americans healthy. Trump's illegal purge of federal employees at HHS will have dire consequences on the lives of Americans & prosperity of our nation." His statement reflects the possible implications that these administrative decisions could have on public health and national well-being.
