A Baltimore man, Freddie Anthony Curry, 54, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute significant quantities of fentanyl and cocaine. The sentencing was delivered by Judge Matthew J. Maddox.
The announcement came from Kelly O. Hayes, U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, alongside Acting Special Agent in Charge Amanda M. Koldjeski of the FBI's Baltimore Field Office and Special Agent in Charge Ibrar A. Mian of the DEA's Washington Division.
The investigation into Curry began in May 2024 when the FBI and DEA suspected his involvement in drug trafficking within the Baltimore area. Searches conducted on Curry’s residence and vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 980 grams of fentanyl, 1,040 grams of cocaine, digital scales, drug-packaging materials, and a Glock 19 handgun. Due to prior felony convictions, Curry is prohibited from possessing firearms.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. It also aligns with a broader violent crime reduction strategy launched by the Department on May 26, 2021.
Additionally, this case falls under a Strike Force Initiative that establishes permanent multi-agency task force teams to combat significant drug traffickers and criminal organizations through intelligence-driven operations. The Baltimore Strike Force includes agents from multiple federal and local agencies working together to address drug-related violence in the region.
U.S. Attorney Hayes acknowledged the efforts of the FBI and DEA in this investigation and expressed gratitude towards Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Simpkins for her role in prosecuting the case.
