ALLEGANY COUNTY – MD: Frostburg Road Closure: Begins Monday Morning, September 20

Allegany County – MD issued the following announcement on Sept. 17.

The Allegany County Department of Public Works is starting a bridge replacement project on Welsh Hill Road SW in Frostburg on Monday, September 20, 2021, at 7:00 a.m. Local traffic only will be permitted on Welsh Hill Road SW between the Route 936 and Maple Drive intersections.

The detour route will be Maryland Route 936 - Martin Run Road SW – Maple Drive. The Bridge A-126: Welsh Hill Road Detour Map is attached. The road closure is expected to last approximately 90 calendar days. Allegany County Government is responsible for the maintenance of 140 bridges. Based on annual bridge inspections, this bridge, Bridge A-126, was designated for replacement in Fall 2021.

This important infrastructure project is under the direction of Daniel S. DeWitt, P.E., County Engineer. Questions may be directed to Mr. DeWitt at ddewitt@alleganygov.org, 301-876-9560. Allegany County Government's website, www.alleganygov.org, will have project updates on the homepage.
