Allegany County – MD issued the following announcement on Dec. 21.
Allegany County Government has sites located throughout the county to drop off live Christmas trees and other natural seasonal greenery such as wreaths and swags. All decorations must be removed - no lights, no tinsel, no ribbon, no ornaments, etc. Wires, nails, and screws must be removed. Flocked trees are NOT accepted.
Christmas trees may be dropped off beginning Sunday, December 26, 2021. The last day to use the Christmas tree seasonal drop-off sites is Sunday, January 30, 2022.
The Christmas tree seasonal drop-off sites are:
Cumberland: Allegany County Yard Trimmings and Mulch Site, North Branch Industrial Park, 11700 PPG Road (off Maryland Route 51): dawn to dusk, 7 days a week
Flintstone: Flintstone Residential Refuse Site, I 68 Exit 62,
MD Route 144, 26702 National Pike: Thursday, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.,
Sunday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Frostburg: baseball field parking lot, Lower Consol Road: dawn to dusk
7 days a week
LaVale: Lions Field, 1111 Braddock Road: dawn to dusk 7 days a week
Little Orleans: Orleans Residential Refuse Site, 11306 Orleans Road South: Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. This site will be closed on Friday, December 24, 2021.
Lonaconing: Little League parking lot, Railroad Street, Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Mount Savage: Mount Savage Recreational Park, Iron Rail Street and Foundry Row (next to recycling bin), dawn to dusk 7 days a week
Oldtown: Oldtown Residential Refuse Site, 18622 Lower Town Creek Road: Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Saturday, 9:00 a.m. -
5:00 p.m. This site will be closed on Saturday, December 25, 2021, and Saturday, January 1, 2022. Oldtown will have special holiday openings on Sunday, December 26, 2021, and Sunday, January 2, 2022, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
NOTE: Starting on Monday, January 31, 2022, all Christmas trees must be taken to the Allegany County Yard Trimmings and Mulch Site, cited above.
