Allegany County Government, Allegany County Chamber of Commerce, and Allegany County Department of Social Services have teamed up to create and distribute a survey regarding rideshare opportunities in Allegany County. This effort comes as a response to work the Chamber's Economic Development Committee has been doing to address transportation issues locally. The transportation subcommittee has focused on establishing an interconnected, multimodal, accessible transportation network that actively contributes to economic growth by connecting Allegany County residents to education, employment and health and human services.
Initial talks with two nationally affiliated rideshare companies have highlighted the need for more data in order to prove viability. The committee believes that survey data will show that the community is positioned uniquely with a robust population of students, tourists, and a workforce that will assist us in building our business case. Survey questions focus on two key topics - would you be interested in riding and/or would you be interested in driving.
In addition to the distribution to local residents, employers are asked to distribute the survey to their staff. Widespread survey participation will be a crucial step in this project.
