Hoyer criticizes IRS employee reduction plan amid tax season

Steny Hoyer, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland's 5th district, has recently shared his views on various pressing issues through social media posts. Hoyer, who has been in office since 1981 and holds degrees from the University of Maryland and Georgetown University Law Center, expressed concerns over matters affecting both domestic and international spheres.

On February 20, 2025, Hoyer criticized plans reportedly involving Elon Musk and Donald Trump to reduce the workforce at the IRS by over 6,000 employees during tax-filing season. He stated that this move "undermines the agency's ability to ensure hard-working Americans get their refunds and ensure everyone pays their fair share." Read more
