Steny Hoyer, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland's 5th district, recently shared his activities and commitments through a series of tweets. Hoyer has been an influential figure in Maryland politics since replacing Gladys Spellman in 1981 and has previously served in both the Maryland House of Representatives and the Maryland State Senate.

On June 9, 2025, Hoyer expressed pride in hosting the annual Educators Luncheon to honor education professionals from his district. He stated: "I'm always proud to host the annual Educators Luncheon & honor our outstanding #MD05 education professionals." He also mentioned ongoing political issues by saying, "As Trump continues his attacks on the Dept. of Education, I'll keep fighting to ensure our students receive equal treatment under the law & in the classroom."

He tweeted: "Glad to attend the 38th Annual Patuxent River Wade-In & carry on my dear friend Bernie Fowler’s mission to restore our beloved Maryland waters." He noted progress by highlighting this year’s “Sneaker Index” measurement: "I'm proud to see that this year’s 'Sneaker Index' was 48 inches, a result of our continued conservation efforts for the Chesapeake Bay."
