Rep. Glenn Ivey reports denial of congressional access to Baltimore ICE facility

Rep. Glenn Ivey, who represents Maryland’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on July 28 and July 29, 2025, regarding denied access to the federal ICE facility in Baltimore and an upcoming Medicaid Town Hall event.

On July 28, Rep. Ivey wrote: "I joined Team Maryland to inspect the federal ICE facility in Baltimore, but we were denied entry. Fear may fade, but the shame of refusing transparency will be felt for generations. #CongressionalOversight #Justice #Accountability".

Later that day, he continued: "Congress has a legal and constitutional right to inspect ICE facilities. This morning, my Maryland Delegation colleagues and I were denied entry to the Baltimore Detention Facility. Let that sink in. If our constituents are being held in potentially inhumane conditions, we have".

The following day, on July 29, Rep. Ivey announced an upcoming event: " Friendly Reminder: Just 2 Days Until Our Medicaid Town Hall in Greenbelt! Join us Wednesday, July 30, from 10 AM to 12 PM, as I sit down with @SenatorATW, Delegates Ashanti Martinez and Nicole Williams in Greenbelt to celebrate Medicaid’s 60-year legacy—and dig into what".

Rep. Glenn Ivey began his tenure representing Maryland's 4th district after succeeding Anthony Brown in 2023. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Maryland House of Representatives and has resided in Cheverly since his birth in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961. He holds degrees from Princeton University and Harvard Law School.
