Canal Place Preservation & Development Authority issued the following announcement on July 5.
Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority is having a logo contest for our 1st annual River & Rails Festival. The winner of the contest will receive name recognition in the festival guide, a plaque, and $100 cash, plus you will be honored at the festival on Saturday, September 8th at the opening ceremony.
The design should include details of the transportation heritage of Allegany County (i.e. the Western Maryland Railroad, the C&O Canal, North Branch of the Potomac River, and the National Road).

This is a great opportunity to be creative. The designs will be judged by the River and Rails festival committee. Deadline for submission is July 20th.
