MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES: Trapper Education Course Offered in September

Maryland Department of Natural Resources issued the following announcement on Aug. 16.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is holding a trapper education course from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 22, 2018, at the Casselman Valley Sportsman’s Club in Garrett County (8751 National Pike, Grantsville).

Anyone interested in trapping furbearers, under the authority of a Furbearer Permit, must first obtain a Certificate of Trapper Education from the department.

In order to pass the course and obtain the certification card, participants must:

Bring a completed Maryland Trapper Education Workbook to the course for review;

Participate in trap handling/field exercises; and

Pass the written test (50 questions) with a score of at least 70 percent.

There is no cost to take the class, but registration is required before Sept. 14, 2018. Participants under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Lunch will be provided for $5 for those interested.
