Rep. Glenn Ivey, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland's 4th district, has recently made several statements on important national issues through his social media account. His comments focus on topics ranging from the appointment of the FBI Director to honoring Black History Month.
On February 11, 2025, Rep. Ivey emphasized the critical nature of the FBI Director's role in maintaining national safety and impartiality in law enforcement. He stated that "The FBI Director is one of the most important positions in the federal government, entrusted with ensuring the safety of the American people. As such, the Director must be committed to the rule of law over partisan politics."
In recognition of Black History Month on February 12, 2025, Rep. Ivey commemorated the founding anniversary of a pivotal civil rights organization. He remarked that "During this Black History Month, we honor the founding of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), 116 years ago today." He acknowledged its mission to combat racial discrimination and promote equality for Black Americans.
Later that day, Rep. Ivey addressed concerns regarding a nomination for a significant security position within the government. On February 12, he led a press conference urging opposition to Kash Patel's confirmation as FBI Director by stating: "Today, I led a press conference with my Democratic colleagues urging the Senate Committee on the Judiciary to vote 'NO' on the confirmation of Kash Patel for Director of the FBI." He stressed that this high-level position requires an individual dedicated to national security interests.
