Steny Hoyer, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland's 5th district, recently shared his views and updates through a series of tweets. The congressman, who has been in office since 1981 after replacing Gladys Spellman, addressed various issues ranging from international relations to local concerns.

On February 12, 2025, Hoyer expressed strong opposition to former President Donald Trump's intentions regarding Greenland. He stated that "Denmark has been one of America's closest allies, trading partners, & friends for generations. Donald Trump's desire to annex the autonomous Danish territory of Greenland, through possible economic coercion or military force, is absurd."

Later that day, he announced an upcoming virtual town hall meeting scheduled for February 13th. Hoyer invited constituents to join him alongside Representative Sarah Elfreth and Rob Shriver of Democracy Forward. He tweeted: "Join me, @RepSarahElfreth, and Rob Shriver of @DemocracyFwd for a virtual town hall tomorrow... I am looking forward to meeting you tomorrow afternoon to hear your concerns and answer your questions."

In another tweet on the same day, Hoyer informed residents about the lifting of a boil water advisory by WSSC Water News for southern Prince George's County. He urged caution by stating: ".@WSSCWaterNews has lifted the boil water advisory for southern Prince George's County. I urge all Prince Georgians to take final precautions before consuming or using water at home."
