Our economy is shrinking for the first time since the final months of the pandemic, as today's GDP numbers demonstrate. And, most importantly, the American people are hurting." Steny Hoyer, 83, from Mechanicsville, has been a fixture in the U.S. Congress since 1981, following a career in Maryland's state legislature. Starting in the Maryland House of Representatives and later the Maryland State Senate, Hoyer's educational background includes a BA from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center.
