Steny Hoyer, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland's 5th district, has expressed his views on various topics through a series of tweets. On May 2, 2025, Hoyer criticized former President Donald Trump's budget proposals. He stated that "Trump’s budget plans put our nation's children at risk. Once again, Trump proves he does not care for the American people – only himself." On May 5, 2025, Hoyer congratulated Elaina Camacho from Maryland's 5th district for her achievements at the Special Olympics World Games in Turin, Italy. In his tweet, he invited others to "Join me in celebrating #MD05's own Elaina Camacho for winning Gold & Silver in Snowshoeing at the 2025 Special Olympics World Games in Turin, Italy." He expressed pride in supporting athletes from @SpOlympicsMD both on and off the world stage.

Later that day, Hoyer participated in Public Service Recognition Week amid what he termed as "unprecedented attacks by Trump and Musk." He tweeted about joining this initiative and acknowledged the dedication of public service workers. His message read: "Proud to join in Public Service Recognition Week amid unprecedented attacks by Trump and Musk. From the VA to the NIH, I thank these brave workers for their service to the American people each and every day."

Steny Hoyer was born in New York City in 1939 and currently resides in Mechanicsville. He holds a BA from the University of Maryland and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center.
