Rep. Glenn Ivey, a U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 4th district since 2023, has recently shared his views on several political issues through social media posts. His statements address concerns about the independence of federal agencies and constitutional rights.

On May 15, 2025, Rep. Ivey emphasized the importance of maintaining the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as an independent entity. He stated, "The FTC must remain an independent, bipartisan agency—not a political pawn." This comment was made in response to actions by former President Donald Trump, who allegedly dismissed two Democrat-appointed commissioners in March. Ivey highlighted his efforts to question Commissioner Ferguson regarding the necessity of preserving the agency's impartiality for consumer protection.

The following day, on May 16, 2025, Rep. Ivey addressed another significant issue concerning due process and rule of law. He asserted that "Due process isn’t a suggestion—it’s a constitutional right." He criticized Donald Trump for allegedly defying the Supreme Court and called for an end to what he described as "political games," urging action to bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia home.

Glenn Ivey was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961 and currently resides in Cheverly. A graduate of Princeton University with a BA in 1983 and Harvard Law School with a JD in 1986, he succeeded Anthony Brown as Maryland's representative after serving previously in the Maryland House of Representatives.
