Steny Hoyer, a seasoned politician serving in the U.S. Congress representing Maryland's 5th district since 1981, recently shared his views on several issues through social media posts. These tweets cover topics ranging from federal employees to cancer research and government actions.

On June 3, 2025, Hoyer addressed the role of federal employees in a tweet: "Federal employees work for the American people - not one single president's agenda." He criticized the Trump Administration for allegedly harassing these workers, emphasizing their dedication to serving public interests rather than political agendas.

Later that day, Hoyer commemorated his late colleague Congressman Gerry Connolly's efforts against esophageal cancer. In his tweet, he stated: "My dear friend, the late Congressman Gerry Connolly, worked to invest in esophageal cancer research as he fought a courageous battle with the disease." He expressed pride in supporting legislation named after Connolly to continue raising awareness and funding for cancer research.

On June 4, 2025, Hoyer took issue with actions by Trump's Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought. He tweeted: "Trump's OMB Director, @RussVought, has taken drastic actions to demonize federal employees." Highlighting the stress faced by these workers due to such policies, he mentioned that Democrats on the Appropriations Committee would seek explanations regarding this matter.

Born in New York City in 1939 and currently residing in Mechanicsville at age 83, Steny Hoyer has had a long-standing career marked by significant contributions both at state and national levels. His educational background includes a BA from the University of Maryland and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center.
